The Acacia Quartet

4 + Viola!

Acacia Quartet has the pleasure of being able to present another program of viola quintets with international viola soloist Emile Cantor. The program will feature the Australian piece Boomi's Ray by Nick Wales, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's wonderful, but dark and melancholic String Quintet in G minor, K516 and Antonín Dvorák's String Quintet Op. 97 which he wrote during his summer vacation in Spillville, Iowa, just after his famous American quartet.

In just seven years Acacia Quartet has won great respect for their versatile and inventive programs which couple established repertoire with the unorthodox. Acacia has recorded six albums – three of which earned nominations for an ARIA Award for ‘Best Classical Album’ and an APRA-AMCOS Art Music ‘Award for Excellence’. Acacia is passionate about supporting Australian composers and working with young musicians. Their performances feature regularly on ABC Classic FM and Fine Music 102.5. Acacia’s engagements have not just included Australia, but also Canada and Germany, where they recently recorded a CD of string quartets by Günter Raphael.
