Café Culture Concert Series 2020

Café Culture is a new casual concert format, presenting the best of chamber music in a casual and conversational style. Held in the beautiful foyers of the Independent Theatre, with areas for dedicated listening, conversation, or to get a cup of coffee, Café Culture concerts feature short performances interspersed with opportunities to chat with the artists.

Café Culture is a relaxed experience for the dedicated concert goer, and the perfect introduction for those new to chamber music.

Adult $30, Concession $20, Student $10, child $10.

15 March | Enigma Quartet | Coffee and Romance
Enjoy an intimate afternoon of chamber music beneath the arches with the acclaimed Enigma Quartet. Mendelssohn's elegiac second quartet and Smetana's beloved quartet, 'from my life', will delight and transport with their poignant expressions of Romanticism.
9 August | Flinders Quartet | Composer Development Program Concert
Join Flinders Quartet in the beautiful Arches of The Independent for an intimate performance of an all-Australian program, featuring the Sydney premieres of new works by revered First Nation composer Deborah Cheetham AO and Sydney's own Ella Macens.
26 September | The Marais Project | Two
TWO' celebrates the long-standing musical friendship of leading early musicians, lutenist Tommie Andersson and viola da gambist, Jenny Eriksson. In this truly special event each will play a solo bracket before joining together as a dynamic duo.
