Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update 18 March 2020

The Independent Theatre is committed to ensuring the safety of patrons and staff, and we are closely monitoring the situation and advice from the Australian Government Department of Health regarding COVID-19. 

Following the government’s directive to restrict public gatherings to minimise risk and prevent unnecessary exposure to the community, some of our upcoming events will be postponed.

Ticketholders for these events will be offered the option of either transferring their ticket to a deferred performance date, receiving a full refund, or taking the opportunity to donate their ticket price to support the artists through this difficult period in the performing arts sector.

Further details will be posted on the website as they are released.

The Independent Theatre is committed to ensuring the safety of patrons and staff, and we are closely monitoring the situation and advice from the Australian Government Department of Health regarding COVID-19. 

What we are doing:

We are:

  • increasing venue cleaning

  • providing hand sanitiser for patrons

  • briefing our staff

Should you attend a performance?

Each patron should decide whether to attend the performance. Present measures are precautionary, and we are guided by advice from Live Performance Australia (LPA) which states that refunds will not be issued for discretionary nonattendance. 

Requesting a refund for medical reasons

If you are a patron requesting a ticket exchange or refund based on medical advice that you should be isolated at this time, please contact 9409 4462. We will guide you through our requirements, which will involve medical confirmation.

Is there any parking at the Theatre?

The Theatre has no parking on premises. However, there is ample street parking on Miller Street  and the streets surrounding the Theatre, and a council car-park on Ridge Street offers free weekend parking.

What about public transport?

North Sydney Station is just ten minutes walk away, or you can take a bus up the hill. The Stanton library bus-stop is directly opposite the Theatre on Miller St. Take bus number 202, 203, 207, 208, 209 or 263 from Wynyard or North Sydney Station. 

Is the Theatre wheelchair accessible?

Yes, the Theatre has street level access to the Auditorium, and two accessible bathrooms. Wheelchair positions in  the Auditorium are in the front row, and these seats can be booked directly through the Box Office.

Why can't I get in contact with the Box Office?

How can I buy a ticket?

At present the physical Box Office at 269 Miller Street is only open for ticket sales one hour before each performance. However,  tickets are available for purchase at all times online, through the Theatre website and Facebook page.

I selected 'Print at Home' tickets but I never received them.What do I do?

Don't worry, the Box Office Staff will be able to reprint your tickets for you when you get to the Theatre.

If you can show us your PDF tickets on your phone that's all we need to see. Don't have the PDF? Don't worry, the Box Office Staff will be able to print your tickets for you when you get to the Theatre.  

I'm not sure my ticket purchase went through - can you help?

Please email independenttheatre@wenona.nsw.edu.au with your name, the name of the show, and your contact details, and we will contact you as soon as possible.

I'm having issues with online ticketing purchases.

A couple of things to check - first do not use a mobile device to purchase your tickets, as the ticket system is not yet optimised for mobile devices. Second, make sure you are using the most recent version of your browser.

Does a Senior's card entitle me to a Concession discount?

Yes.

Does the Theatre accept companion cards?

Yes. 

Is the Theatre available for Hire?

Yes, although the Theatre is not available during School days, it is available for hire on weekends and in School holidays.  To enquire please fill in the expression of interest form.
